Honda, RPA Technologies Offer AI Analysis for Patent Portfolios

Honda announced back in July (reported here) how it had seen good results from its AI-supported patent portfolio experiment. Now, it and Japanese robotic process automation (RPA) leader RPA Holdings have announced they are offering a similar program to others.

In a November 20, 2020 Japanese press release, RPA Holdings announced its group member RPA Technologies Inc. executed an agreement to work on AI-based intellectual property management with Honda Motor Co., Ltd in June of 2020. RPA Technologies’ first project with Honda is this maintenance fee assessment service, which is supposed to enable much faster and lighter patent portfolio management loads for clients.

RPA Holdings warns, of course, that results may vary depending on the patent portfolio the client inputs, but suggests that clients may benefit from up to 70% cuts in labor time costs. Honda, which has already enjoyed the cut costs of such a portfolio management program, may offer further support services in IP in the future in its partnership with RPA Technologies. This partnership highlights the continued acceleration of information technology impacting the very industry that is used to support it, intellectual property.
