This Sunday, April 10, 2011, marks the crowning event of the Subaru Cherry Blossom Festival of Greater Philadelphia, Sakura Sunday. Held in the Horticultural Center in Fairmount Park, Sakura Sunday commemorates the season by celebrating Japanese food, music and art.
The festival itself, however, is from March 4th to April 15th, 2011, with various events held throughout Philadelphia. From March 28th to April 1 ran a week of “lunchtime” events at Liberty Place, known as the Japanese Culture Week. Keisen Associates proudly sponsored the Culture Week, organizing the origami folding event on March 28th.
The event was a great success, hosting visitors from a wide range of ages; from professionals on their lunchbreaks to a group of over forty first grade students on a class trip to learn about Japanese culture. Participants learned to make miniature school buses designed by Taro’s Papercraft, which were theirs to keep.
